Trinity’s 125th anniversary
Anniversary Fund: Help Us Beat the Heat & Raise the Roof!
Trinity Lutheran Church was founded in 1893, which means we are celebrating our 125th anniversary this year. Isn’t that amazing? Have you ever thought about our obligations to the future of this church? Well, those of us who are here today are the keepers of this church, but eventually we will be passing it on to the next generation. We are God’s hands to do God’s work today, and the task before all of us is to make sure that what we are doing now will ensure that God’s church and God’s love will be passed on to future generations.
Part of that task involves maintaining our church buildings and property. At the congregational meeting on January 28th we voted to raise the money to do three things as part of our anniversary celebration:
• Replace the air conditioning system for the sanctu-ary before this summer (our current system dates back to the 1960’s and has become increasingly unreliable).
• Replace the roofs over the kitchen, church office and half of Heinecken Hall (the other half was re-placed in 2016). These are the only roofs that have not been replaced in recent years.
• Support Central City Lutheran Mission by donating a tithe of our project costs for the air conditioning and roofs to help pay for construction of their new homeless shelter.
The total cost for these projects is estimated to be $40,000-50,000. Trinity’s Council has established an Anniversary Fund to receive donations. The Council and other members have already donated or pledged a total of $12,503.00 for this fund. You can help in the following ways:
• Prayerfully consider making a donation or a series of donations to our Anniversary Fund by the end of 2018. Help us “Beat the Heat and Raise the Roof”!
• If you received a letter with a response card, please fill out the card and return it to the church by March 30, either by placing it in the Sunday offering or mailing it to the church office.
• Pray for the successful completion of these much-needed projects and for God’s continued guidance.
Trinity’s Council and the Property Committee are finalizing plans for the air conditioning and roofing projects. If necessary, we will borrow the money needed. But we are hopeful that generous giving by you and others will keep the need to borrow to a minimum.
Our congregation is blessed with wonderful members, vibrant worship and music ministries, and a strong commitment to serving our community, especially our neighbors in need. Let’s keep our church healthy and strong, so that we can continue to be an active part of this community and share God’s love, hope and for-giveness far into the future.
Thank you for your prayers and your support!
